We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of the Avery Dennison Foundation and their recent donation of $10,000!
Their contribution plays a vital role in helping us achieve our mission of reducing waste, empowering lives, and restoring dignity to those in need.
Thank you for supporting our mission and your commitment to making a positive impact in our community!!
Earth Breeze Donation
We are grateful to Earth Breeze for their continued support of Project Ropa. Last month we received our annual donation of 256 packages of Earth Breeze’s eco-friendly laundry detergent which will provide over 15,000 loads of laundry! Unlike traditional laundry detergent Earth Breeze comes in sheets which is an added convenience for people without housing.
Access to clean clothes is crucial for maintaining dignity and basic hygiene. Laundry detergent not only helps provide clean clothing, but also contributes to a person’s overall health and well-being, reducing the risk of skin infections and boosting self-esteem.
Volunteer of the Month
Lauran has been volunteering at our warehouse at least once a week since December of last year. She helps sort and organize clothing donations and create hygiene kits with our staff and fellow volunteers.
She is a Georgia native who moved to California for college and stayed for the weather and the food. She spent her career as a middle and high school educator, teaching students about history and how to think critically. After nearly a decade she made a career change and is now enjoying her time volunteering with Project Ropa.
“During the 2020 election, I spent time volunteering for various out of state and national campaigns. I wanted to do something more local that directly impacts my community in Los Angeles. My favorite part about volunteering with Project Ropa is getting to work alongside the fantastic staff and volunteers in order to help our fellow Angelenos.” – Lauran, Project Ropa Volunteer since 2023
If you are interested in volunteering with us at our warehouse or service sites please email us.
Ridwell Partnership
Ridwell is a service that collects hard-to-recycle items from residences and partners with organizations to repurpose them. Last fall we started a pilot program with Ridwell in which Project Ropa received clothing donations from Ridwell’s customers.
To further our recycling efforts and environmental sustainability we are now partnering with Ridwell to recycle mulit-purpose plastics, beyond wear textiles and shoes, batteries and plastic film that we have at our warehouse.
Community Partner Highlight
In addition to our direct services Project Ropa also distributes bulk supplies of clothing, shoes and hygiene essentials to over 38 local mutual aid and small nonprofits in the Los Angeles area including Proper Hygiene Project DTLA. Their mission is to end the stigma of being unhoused by making hygiene and care accessible.
“Project Ropa has afforded our organization the peace of mind having a reliable source of hygiene and stylish clothing. We feel supported and uplifted by the beautiful people at Project Ropa. The best part is we don’t have to rely on money to meet our community’s needs. Thank you, Project Ropa!” – David, Program Manager for Proper Hygiene Project DTLA
