Dear Supporters,
As we reach the midpoint of May, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support. Your generosity helps us reduce textile waste, restore dignity, and provide essential clothing and hygiene items to those experiencing homelessness. Together, we’re making a real difference in the lives of others.
Grateful for Our Funding Partners
As a small basic needs organization we are often overlooked by traditional funders and we don’t qualify for government funding. We need your support to cover our ongoing general operating expenses. Earlier this year, our rent and insurance both increased by 15%, placing an even greater demand on our resources. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community and the recent support of these companies and foundations, which help us sustain our mission:
- The Capital Group for their $32,500 grant
- Modern Woodmen for their $2,500 matching grant
- Nordstrom Cares for their $10,000 grant
- Reverb for their $11,000 grant
Your continued support ensures that we can keep serving those in need and expanding our reach. Thank you for standing with us.

In 2024, Project Ropa made incredible strides in serving our community and protecting the planet:
👕 117,204 items distributed to those in need
🤝 3,982 people directly served
🌎 26.8 tons of textiles given a second life
🎁 $1,324,521 in in-kind donations received
🙌 172 amazing volunteers
📦 43,675 items distributed to our community partners
Every shirt, every pair of shoes, every act of kindness—it all adds up.
Thank you to our supporters, volunteers, and partners for helping us create dignity through clothing and reduce waste through reuse.
Let’s keep the momentum going in 2025!

We are thrilled to partner with Hollywood Food Coalition for a Wellness event being hosted on May 20th with Take Action LA, an initiative by CalMHSA, aims to increase awareness and access to mental health services, reduce the impact of mental illness on well-being, and combat stigma.
Our mobile clothing closet will be on-site from 5-8pm providing people in need with clean clothes, shoes and accessories. This is a free community event for unhoused guests to connect with service providers including mental health services.

We’re thrilled to share that Project Ropa is in the running for Lazy Acres’ 2025–2026 Envirotokens program! This initiative supports local nonprofits through a reusable bag incentive—and with your vote, we could be one of the beneficiaries.
🗓 Voting is open from May 21 through June 17, and you can vote for up to 5 organizations.
Here’s how to vote:
✅ Visit lazyacres.com/vote (live starting May 21)
✅ Or scan the QR code found in any Lazy Acres store
✅ Select your preferred store location
✅ Choose up to 5 nonprofits
✅ Submit your vote with your email and zip code
The top 6 organizations at each store will become Envirotokens recipients starting July 1, 2025.

Clothing is Essential – Help Us Advocate for Change
Clothing is vital for individuals experiencing homelessness—it provides protection, boosts self-esteem, and supports personal health. Yet, it is not classified as an essential service by the government, meaning basic needs organizations like ours do not qualify for significant funding, limiting access to necessary clothing for those in need.
Why This Matters:
- Many homeless individuals struggle to access clothing essentials.
- We have a waitlist of 97 organizations across 136 locations in Los Angeles requesting clothing support.
- Many of these organizations receive government funding that we do not qualify for.
We need your help! Sign our petition to advocate for clothing to be recognized as essential resource. Together, we can ensure those in need have access to this basic necessity.
Clothing is a human right. Help make it official.
