Summer 2025 Newsletter

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your continued support—your generosity keeps our doors (and closets!) open. Right now, it matters more than everrecent ICE raids have uprooted neighbors and intensified fear, creating an unprecedented demand for our clothing services. We now have a waitlist of 113 organizations across 155 service sites in the Los Angeles area, all requesting our clothing supplies and mobile closet services. Our resources are stretched thin, so every dollar counts—whether a one‑time gift or a monthly donation, each contribution outfits someone in need.

Say hello to us at the Melrose Trading Post, Booth Y44—Sunday, July 27, and Sunday, August 24, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. We’ll be rolling up with our mobile retail clothing closet, selling vintage, upcycled, and sample pieces. 100% of proceeds go right back into funding mobile clothing services for Angelenos in need. Mark your calendar, bring a friend, and shop with purpose.

And don’t miss our facelift: our website has just been refreshed with cleaner navigation, updated impact statistics, and easier ways to get involved. Thank you for standing with our community—your support truly makes a difference.

With gratitude,
Project Ropa Team

MAKE A DONATION

Now through June 2026, every time you shop at Lazy Acres Market in Los Feliz and bring your reusable bags, you can choose to donate your bag credits to Project Ropa. ♻️👕

Your tokens directly support our mission to provide clean clothing and hygiene essentials to those in need, while also reducing textile waste in our community. It’s simple, sustainable, and impactful.

At the end of each month, Lazy Acres tallies up the tokens donated and converts them into a donation to us. So the more you shop (with reusables!), the more you give back.

Next time you’re shopping at Lazy Acres in Los Feliz, don’t forget to bring your bags and drop your tokens for Project Ropa! Thank you for helping us deliver dignity, one bag at a time.

Clothing is Essential – Help Us Advocate for Change

Clothing is vital for individuals experiencing homelessness—it provides protection, boosts self-esteem, and supports personal health. Yet, it is not classified as an essential service by the government, meaning basic needs organizations like ours do not qualify for significant funding, limiting access to necessary clothing for those in need.

Why This Matters:

  • Many homeless individuals struggle to access clothing essentials.
  • We have a waitlist of 113 organizations across 155 locations in Los Angeles requesting clothing support.
  • Many of these organizations receive government funding that we do not qualify for.

We need your help! Sign our petition to advocate for clothing to be recognized as an essential resource. Together, we can ensure those in need have access to this basic necessity.

Clothing is a human right. Help make it official.
