Help Restore Dignity This Giving Tuesday

Dear Supporters,

This year, we’ve witnessed a dramatic surge in need across Los Angeles. Wildfires, immigration raids, and federal cuts have pushed thousands of neighbors into deeper crisis. At Project Ropa, we feel this impact every single day. Our waitlist for clean clothing, shoes, bras, menstrual products, and hygiene essentials has more than doubled, with requests from 143 local organizations serving more than 200 community sites. This includes hospital staff, public defenders, school counselors, shelters, social workers, and individuals reaching out directly—everyone is telling us the same thing: they need supplies.

We are seeing an alarming trend: people being forced to choose between clothing, hygiene products, and food. Requests for our curated clothing supplies—especially warm clothing, work attire, new underwear, socks, bras, and menstrual products—have surged far beyond our capacity to provide.

Just last week, a social worker contacted us seeking winter clothing for their unhoused clients:

“I’m looking for winter clothing and blankets for my clients who are homeless. With the weather getting colder, we desperately need coats, blankets, socks, and sweaters. Do you have any items available?”

And a neighbor in need recently shared, “I just started a job and need help getting black cargo pants and black T-shirts for work.”

Requests like these arrive daily—often from people doing everything they can to move forward, but who simply cannot afford the basics needed to move forward with dignity.

Thanks to your support, we’ve provided essentials to more than 5,000 people this year and given 140,000+ garments a second life. But the need is growing faster than we can respond. This Giving Tuesday, we’re aiming to raise $10,000 by December 31st so we can keep providing clean clothing, menstrual products, hygiene kits, and shoes to those in need in our community.

While we deeply appreciate in-kind donations, processing clothing, shoes, and hygiene supplies requires significant time, space, and staffing. To keep our lights on—and to ensure items get safely sorted, prepared, and delivered—monetary donations are the most impactful way to support us right now. Your financial contribution keeps our warehouse operational, our trucks on the road, our staff employed, and curated essentials in the hands of people who urgently need them.

Everything we do is powered by people like you. Your generosity is the reason a neighbor can step into a job interview with confidence, stay warm through winter, or simply feel seen and cared for. Thank you for standing with us this Giving Tuesday. Together, we can ensure every Angeleno has access to the dignity they deserve.

With Gratitude,
