April Spotlight: Brands That Support Us

It’s no small feat for a clothing or cosmetics company to succeed; the industry is extremely competitive, and tastes and trends change on what seems like a daily basis. When a brand not only thrives but also uses its success to give back and benefit others, it definitely deserves to be lauded.

Today, we’re spotlighting three companies that give back to Project Ropa in meaningful ways. Their donations make it possible to for us to help thousands of men and women, creating a real impact on the homeless population of Los Angeles County.

Glossier: Glossier is more than just a cosmetics line; they specialize in making your makeup, skincare, and fragrance dreams a reality. Known for creating products requested by their clients, the company innovates the beauty space with unique cosmetics for every skin type and tone. Plus, their products are dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, paraben-free, and cruelty free.

Glossier donated 130,000 cotton swabs and over 1,000 tote bags to Project Ropa. In turn, we pass these items on to those experiencing homelessness. Cotton swabs are especially integral to better hygiene, an important step in restoring dignity to those living on the street.

Lucky Brand: Lucky Brand, founded in Los Angeles in 1990, came into the apparel game focusing on distressed denim with personality. 30 years later, you can still find their amazing array of jeans in every silhouette, from classic to on-trend, and each shade of the rainbow. Over time, Lucky Brand has become a one-stop shop for men’s and women’s apparel as well as shoes, accessories, kids’ clothing, and even bedding and home décor.

Lucky Brand has provided Project Ropa with 500 pairs of jeans and over 1,000 belts to distribute. Denim is durable and easy to clean; a new pair can make a real difference in the life of a homeless neighbor.

Los Angeles Apparel: Specializing in effortless, classic pieces for men, women, and kids, Los Angeles Apparel has been disrupting the market by changing the way we think about our clothes. The company is dedicated to sustainability and efficiency, as well as providing fair wages (and equity!) to its workers. Focused on creating jobs in the LA area, the brand also endeavors to buy as much yarn from domestic farmers as possible.

Los Angeles Apparel has donated thousands of t-shirts to Project Ropa over the past two years. A breathable tee is a must-have basic essential, particularly for those facing the elements 24/7.

The generosity of these brands allows us to help others. You too can make an in-kind donation that will truly impact the well-being of your fellow humans. Click on Get Involved at the top of the page to learn more!
